Can you help at the Christmas Fair 15/11?

Refreshments

We’re still very much in need of people to help with refreshments on the Christmas Fair on Saturday 15th November.  Can you spare an hour or more?

Cakes

Do you love to bake? We need cakes and biscuits donated for the refreshment stall and to sell.

Signage

Are you a dab hand at sign-making? To drum up as much support as possible, we need to position signs at strategic points in and out of the village. Could you help with this?

All offers of support very gratefully received. Please call Tracey Jefferies 01865 820183.

Uffington Potters just confirmed for the Hinton Christmas Fair!

Highlighted to this wonderful local company by a neighbour, we’ve managed to squeeze an extra exhibitor into the Christmas Fair on Saturday 15th November. We’re delighted to welcome Uffington Potters!

Bus service to Hinton “under review”

Oxfordshire County Council has been in touch with local Parish Councils to notify everyone that they are reviewing contracts for subsidised bus routes.  In their letter the number 63 route, which connects Hinton and Longworth with Oxford, is noted as “entire service is under review”.  This appears to suggest that they may consider discontinuing this service altogether.  Any such change would take place in June 2015.

If you, or anyone you know in the village, is likely to be significantly affected by the loss of the number 63 bus service, please get in touch with any of the Parish Councillors and let them know of your concerns.  Parish councils must get their comments in to OCC by 15 November, so please don’t delay.

Upgraded broadband is one step nearer

BT has started work to upgrade Longworth’s and Hinton’s broadband infrastructure. This is a major step towards fulfilling their commitment to provide faster broadband service by the end of 2014.

These photos show construction work taking place at Cabinet 3 in Longworth. Cabinet 3 is where all of Hinton’s and Duxford’s phone lines are connected, and the photos show a new cabinet erected alongside the existing one. The new cabinet will house the fibre optic equipment that will bring faster broadband service to these lines.

We’re keeping a constant eye on BT’s announcements concerning availability of the upgraded service, and we’ll keep you posted.cabinet 3 construction 2 cabinet 3 construction 1

Regular lift to Summertown needed – can you, or anyone you know help?

Does any one in the village work in Summertown and would you be happy to give me a lift Tuesday – Thursday office hours?

New job, no parking, would obviously contribute petrol money.

Broadband upgrade work to start by December

Vale of White Horse District Council is seeking people to assist at polling stations for the European elections taking place on Thursday 22 May.
