Do you ever use the Public Bridleway at Duxford which leads to the ford & Chimney Meadows Nature Reserve? If so you may be able to assist Oxfordshire County Council with the following matter.
In March 2010 Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) decided to install a lockable gate at the entrance to Bridleway 9 which leads from Duxford to the ford in order to prevent the use of that bridleway by vehicular traffic and safeguard the public.
OCC is currently seeking the views of anyone who is familiar with Bridleway 9 and/or has knowledge of how it is used in order to reach a view as to whether it is necessary to retain the gate for safety purposes. To do this we are posing the following questions:
Are you aware of any attempts by motorised vehicles to use the bridleway or any other anti-social behaviour on the bridleway which may affect the safety of persons using it over the last year or so? The more detail of a particular incident (e.g. date, time, description of vehicle, etc.) you are able to provide the better.
Are you able to comment on whether the existence of the lockable gate has served a safety purpose? If so, please provide the basis for your answer.
We will be setting up an online consultation posing the same questions on the OCC website. The link to the consultation is below, access will be available from 1 August. We encourage you to use this as the primary contact for the survey.
All responses will remain confidential and if you observe anything you think may fall within these queries please respond to the consultation at any point. The consultation will run from 1st August 2016 to 31st July 2017.
Whilst some people will use the online portal it is recognised that not everyone has access to the internet or able to use online services so we offer a postal address where residents can send their views, see below.
Thank you for your assistance and if you have any further queries don’t hesitate to contact me.
